2019 was a year full of awareness and action. A 16-year-old girl, Greta Thunberg launched a movement “School strike for the climate”.
Like every year’s tradition, this year again we come to all of you with a list of influential and sustainable companies of 2019 and it is a bonus for all our readers, this year we are listing 20 companies. We bring to you 10 influential and sustainable organizations from India and 10 from the world.
Every year we salute the sustainable organizations and hope the list will be longer next year, the future depends on environment-friendly and sustainable companies.

ARC Marine: ARC Marine, the UK based organization, disrupting the marine industry by accelerating reef creation in offshore construction projects which historically have caused damage and pollution. ARC Marine has fine-tuned the design & manufacturing technique.
Broccoli Revolution: Broccoli Revolution, a Bangkok based organization is a modern Vegan restaurant and cold-pressed juice bar. Their goal is to achieve a balance by providing customers with healthier choices consisting of organic vegetables and fruits. The vegetables are organic meaning they were not grown with any pesticides, they are also locally grown. Whether you are a strict Vegan/Vegetarian or just want to develop a healthier lifestyle by adding organic vegetables and fruits to your diet they hope to help you achieve that.
Ecofun: Ecofun, Indonesia based social enterprise that engages in environmental education and science communication through gamification. Products are made by the hands of women community who lived in an economically challenged area. Game materials are made from waste. Ecofun’s mission is to spread knowledge and positive actions with strong environmental and social value through creative learning and interactive play.
KTK-Belt: KTK-BELT, a Nepal based organization works in concert with nonprofit cooperatives registered under the Nepal Company Act, which it helps establish and nurture, called ‘Learning Grounds.’ Each Learning Grounds, governed by a diverse local Board and monitored by the Social Welfare Council (SWC) of the Nepal Government, owns its own biodiversity-rich conservation land base, which it holds in perpetuity in order to prevent ecosystem fragmentation and deforestation.
Mobility for Africa: Mobility for Africa, a Zimbabwe registered start-up under parent company Locomotion for Africa and in Australia, is working with social impact investors, to build a market, using a social enterprise model that provides a package of services from skills to low-income financing. Robust, renewable energy charged electric tricycles, branded and backstopped by trained community support services, can provide an avenue for communities to overcome these distances and contribute to dynamic local economies. Powered through community-based off-grid energy supply, e-tricycles could provide the incentive for increased economic activity, creating new local markets and enhancing rural livelihoods. A pilot targeting small scale farmers is building the evidence to usage, financial sustainability, technology, including renewable and GPS, and the social and economic impact on households.
Oceanium: Oceanium, the UK based organization enable a sustainable seaweed farming industry to mitigate climate change, ensure food security and create jobs across the value chain. Oceanium is developing marine-safe, home compostable bio-packaging materials and food & nutrition products from sustainably-farmed seaweed.
Papa's Dreamer: Papa’s Dreamer, a Vietnam’s organization working on making soaps made from natural ingredients for healthier skin and reducing toxic discharge in wastewater.
Paptic: Paptic, a Finland based organization, manufactures bags made of wood fibres from controlled and sustainably managed forests. It reduces water and energy consumption. It reduces plastic pollution accumulating on land and ocean.
Posadiles: Posadiles, a Russia based organization plants trees. You can make a contribution to forest planting. They can plant a single tree or several hectares, it is your choice. 1 tree - $3. Get a certificate that confirms your contribution to the restoration of forests for yourself, for your organization or as a gift to your friends or relatives on a memorable date. We will send photos and GPS coordinates. After the actual planting, you will get the photo and GPS coordinates of the new forest, and you can share this joy with your friends.
Spero Foods: Spero Foods, a California based organization is offering truly delicious food that happens to be healthy and sustainable, and to collectively make strides towards a brighter future for all. They have launched with unparalleled and uncompromising products that are: Delicious. Healthy. Sustainable.
10 most influential and sustainable organization from India:
Dhaanika: Dhaanika, an Uttar Pradesh based organization is blending of three words i.e. Dhaan, Dhaani, Dhaanika meaning Grain, Goodness, and Prosperity. Farmers produce food using locally available resources reducing their input cost, eat healthy food and sell their excess production after collectively processing it.
Ecostp: Ecostp, a Karnataka based organization is rediscovering nature’s genius in treating sewage - the cow's stomach. Their unique technology treats sewage in a decentralized, self- sustainable way in underground chambers without power, chemicals or human intervention. The ruminant stomach in a cow turns grass into milk. They biologized the same method to convert “bad” water to “good” water using exactly the same ruminant stomach process. The solution can treat waste ranging from 5 KLD to 1 MLD.
Greensole: Greensole, a Maharashtra based organization recycles discarded shoes to comfortable footwear, keeping them away from landfills and provide them to children in need. They also retail, upcycled footwear towards building a self-sustaining social venture.
Greenway Grameen Infra: GGI, a Maharashtra based organization provides immediate relief and long term economic value to BoP users by creating and marketing appropriate and low-cost products that are ecologically sustainable. They minimize noxious CO, PM and GHG emissions leading to better health, savings, climate change mitigation, and everyday convenience.
Malai: Malai, a Kerala based organization has a newly developed biocomposite material made from entirely organic and sustainable bacterial cellulose, grown on agricultural waste sourced from the coconut industry in Southern India. They work with the local farmers and processing units, collecting their waste coconut water and re-purposing it to feed the bacteria’s cellulose production. Malai is a flexible, durable biocomposite material with a feel comparable to leather or paper. It is a completely vegan product and as such you could even eat it! but it’s way too pretty for that…
No Nasties: No Nasties, a Goa-based startup is organic and fair trade and vegan, making only 100% cotton clothes since 2011! They don't like plastics, and you won’t' find ANY in their packaging. All their clothes are individually packed in reusable, organic cotton drawstring bags and then shipped in a recycled cardboard box that is self-sealing and doesn't need any plastic cello tape even.
Saahas: Saahas, a Karnataka based organization provides end-to-end waste management services based on the principles of the circular economy. They handle waste sustainably & responsibly for MNCs, tech parks, residential communities and other bulk generating organizations and institutions. Are you a bulk waste generator? SoCHE: SoCHE, a Delhi based organization reduces the use of Diesel Generator sets to provide backup electricity for houses and common area lighting like parking, etc. At SoCHE they believe that by replacing these DG sets partially or fully with solar would reduce harmful emissions significantly. They are thus working with local resident welfare associations (RWAs) on the ground to switch to solar and help them reduce their carbon footprint.
Under the Mango Tree: Under The Mango Tree, a Maharashtra based hybrid social enterprise that promotes beekeeping to increase agricultural productivity and provides market access to enhance income and improve livelihoods of marginal farmers in India. They tackle both ends of the honey supply chain. It sources high-quality organic honey from farmer cooperatives, then packages the honey for sale direct to customers.
Zerodor: Zerodor, a Delhi based organization has a waterless urinal technology. They are breaking the myth that water is necessary for a urinal. Without water, urinals would stink. Their mission is to save this water and create an odor-free #PeePee experience.
